Updated: Oct 12, 2022

As comedian and author Lewis Black once said, “You can never put too much pork in your mouth as far as I’m concerned,”

Sweet, salty, flavourful and succulent, the perfect pork marinade is an alchemical masterpiece, balanced and packed with a punch, the perfect answer to any and all pork cravings. Whether you’re baking, grilling, slow cooking, meal prepping, or otherwise, these pork marinades are freezer-friendly, gluten-free, easy to make, and an ultra-delicious roadmap to elevate the intrinsic flavours hidden away in your cuts of raw meat. From pork chops to tenderloin, and from ribs to shoulder, check out this list of simple and flavourful pork marinades, perfect for any cut of pork!

Pineapple Ginger Marinade:

2/3 cup pineapple juice 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 teaspoons ground ginger 2 teaspoons low-sodium soy sauce 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder 1/2 teaspoon freshly-cracked black pepper 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder pinch of crushed red pepper flakes

Heroing the sweetness of the cut of meat, while tenderising for additional flavour, this pineapple-ginger scented marinade is delicately balanced for sweetness and acidity. Mix together and apply to the meat, and let rest for an hour, or as long as desired.

Moo Shu Marinade:

1/2 cup hoisin sauce 1/4 cup rice vinegar 2 tablespoons oyster sauce 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil 1/2 teaspoon freshly-cracked black pepper 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Sweet and salty, this marinade brings out the sweet flavours of the meat and envelops them in a salty-spiced glaze that is enough to make our mouth water at the very sight of it. Simply whisk together the ingredients and marinate the pork for a minimum of an hour before cooking!

Maple Dijon Marinade:

1/4 cup red wine vinegar 1/4 cup coarse-grain Dijon mustard 1/4 cup maple syrup 1/4 cup olive oil 1-2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh rosemary

A deliciously balanced mix of sweetness and acidity, this marinade can be prepared in just a few minutes. Mix the ingredients together and marinate your pork for an hour, or simple toss it in the freezer for later use!

Barbeque Marinade:

1 batch BBQ Sauce

Simple, easy to execute and ready to eat, a BBQ sauce marinade is a quick-fix solution to delicious tasting pork. If you’re feeling especially creative, you can make your own homemade sauce using tomato sauce, paste, apple cider vinegar, honey, Worcestershire and just a few spices!

Carnitas Marinade:

1/2 cup fresh orange juice 1/3 cup fresh lime juice 1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon chilli powder, salt 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, freshly-cracked black pepper, garlic powder

Fiery, aromatic and absolutely lip-smacking, this marinade is a refreshing take on the average pork preparation. Mix the ingredients together and lather onto the meat and let sit for a minimum of an hour for the best results!
